Who We Are
“Where To Start” is run by James Davis as a sole trader, any reference to “we” is a reference to “Where To Start”. Any reference to a “Where To Start partner” is a reference to an institution we are currently in operation with who hold a Where To Start product that we are actively maintaining.
The Data We Collect
We don't use cookies or analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, including visitors' IP addresses, on our behalf to keep the site secure and running. If you do choose to use the contact form, we will collect the data mentioned within the form. (name, school, email, and any further information you wish to provide) We handle enquiries on the basis of our legitimate interests in responding to you. We only send updates if you've ticked the box, and you can withdraw that at any time. Any further data our services collect will be explained when establishing a solution.
Why We Collect This Information
We collect this information so we can respond to any enquiries made. If agreed, we may also use this information to send occasional updates about our services.
Who Sees This Information
Where To Start can access this information to send relevant correspondence. Our hosting and form provider Netlify processes all data and stores it securely – they may use third parties for verifying form submissions are legitimate. Netlify is based in the US. Transfers are covered by the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or, failing that, standard contractual clauses with the UK addendum. We do not sell data to any third parties.
How Long This Information Is Held
Any data you submit will be held for 12 months since your last correspondence. This means that we will delete data after a certain time if no further action is taken after submitting a form, or if the Where To Start services are terminated. If you continue to make contact and become a Where To Start partner we will keep your data for the duration of you using our services.
What You Can Do
You have the right to access or correct your data, to restrict how we use it, and to object to that use. We'll delete your data on request unless we have a legitimate reason or legal obligation to keep it, for example while you're an active partner. You can object to us emailing you about non-urgent matters, or withdraw your agreement to updates, at any time. To make a request, email the address at the top of this page and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
